My Experience

My clients are people and small businesses who need help recovering their harms and losses from an injury or who are facing a tough dispute with insurance companies and large institutions.  I work with clients to help them recover from catastrophic injuries. I am retained to help people navigate the challenging medical and legal recovery process so they can focus on getting better. I also work with small businesses and individuals who need an advocate to help them resolve complex disputes so they can get back to focusing on their business.

I have been counsel at trial in a variety of cases involving complex injuries and liability issues in the Supreme Court of BC and have served as counsel in the BC Court of Appeal.  I also work as a consultant to other lawyers for complex personal injury liability and damages cases.

I am often called on to work with doctors and clinicians teaching them about their role in helping patients recover in the medical-legal process. I’ve lectured at Anesthesiology Rounds at RJH, Neuropsychology Rounds at VGH, Psychiatry Rounds at Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Faculty of Medicine Practice Survival Skills, the Seymour Medical Centre, the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists BC, Victoria Royal Jubilee Hospital, The Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators, Chuck Jung and Associates Psychologists, CORE Medical Centre: Medical Legal Toolkit, and at the International Symposium on Life Care Planning. I am also a coach for the University of Victoria BC Law Schools Moot team.

I’m a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, a member of the Executive of the Board of Governors of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, a member of the American Association for Justice, and a member of the Canadian Bar Association.

About Me

I grew up in Etobicoke, Ontario. I studied at Queen’s University where I earned degrees in Life Sciences and Politics. I attended law school in Windsor Ontario where I worked for Community Legal Aid defending people who couldn’t afford lawyers.

I enjoy flying and had the luck and honour to fly historic airplanes with the Canadian Historical Aircraft Association in Windsor, Ontario.  Nowadays I fly locally in BC and am a member of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Canadian Aviation Museum.

I am the Past-President of the BC and Yukon Division of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Canada and sit on the BC Council.

I also enjoy exploring the outdoors and have hiked the West Coast Trail, to the base camp of Mount Everest, and to Machu Picchu.
